Who is invited to attend PreviewTU?

PreviewTU is a campus visit program for all prospective students. Programming is tailored to share social and academic resources at Tulane and foster belonging and community for students who identify with one or more of the following identities: first in their household to attend college, LGBTQIA+, students from limited-income backgrounds, students from rural or small towns, and/or students of color.

When is 2024 PreviewTU?

PTU will be held on Saturday, September 28th from 9am – 6pm.

What is the schedule for PreviewTU?

We’re still putting the final touches on the PTU schedule, but you can expect the day to include:

  • A campus tour
  • Academic engagement with Tulane professors
  • Workshops with the Carolyn Barber Pierre Center for Intercultural Life and the Center for Academic Equity
  • Opportunities to connect with our Diversity Fellows
  • A chance to explore the city of New Orleans

Can I bring my parents?

Yes! Parents are welcome to attend all sessions with their students. Keep in mind, however, that due to space and funding limitations, students are encouraged to only bring one parent, guardian, or adult with them.

Will meals be provided?

Yes! We will provide breakfast, snacks, and lunch for all guests. For guests looking for dinner options, we will have restaurant recommendations for you along with passes to our dining hall for those who wish to eat on campus.

Where should I stay?

Tulane has secured a block of rooms at a discounted rate for guests attending PreviewTU at the Sonesta Es Suites New Orleans Downtown. To book within our room block, use the button below.

PreviewTU will take place from 9am to 6:30pm on Saturday, September 28th. We recommend that guests arrive in New Orleans on Friday, September 27th and depart on Sunday, September 29th.

All students receiving a travel grant will be booked at our partner hotel separately.

If you have applied for a travel grant, but have not yet received a decision, please continue to wait to book your hotel.

A Tulane staff member will be staying at the Sonesta Es Suites New Orleans the evenings of Friday 9/27 and Saturday 9/28 as a program chaperone. Students planning to attend PreviewTU on their own should stay at this hotel.

Our shuttle to and from Tulane’s campus will depart from our partner hotel. If you are interested in utilizing our shuttle but are not staying at our partner hotel, we encourage you to choose another hotel close by.

For other lodging options in the city, you can search our or use your preferred hotel booking platform.

How does the travel grant process work?

When registering for PTU, students will have the option to apply for a travel grant. The travel grant application includes a 250-word essay about why you are interested in visiting Tulane.

By submitting a travel grant application, students will be considered for either a full or partial grant. Tulane will cover flight and hotel costs for students awarded full grants, and up to $500 for either flight or hotel costs for students receiving partial grants.

The priority deadline for applying for a travel grant is Friday, August 26th. The final deadline to apply is Friday, September 6th. Decisions will be released on a rolling basis.

When is Virtual PreviewTU?

Virtual PTU will take place in late October. Dates and links for registration will be published in September.
